It looks like we're going on a little poetry road trip. Summer is a good time for road trips, don't you think? Someone mentioned David Whyte in yesterday's comments, another one of those lovely poets that aims straight for the heart and seldom misses. "Poetry," says Whyte on his website comments "is a break for freedom." Now that's my kind of road trip.

With lovely synchronicity, just a few hours before reading this post, someone said to me 'facts are not information, information is not knowledge, and knowledge is not wisdom'. For me Whyte's loaves and fishes add something earthy and tangible to that sequence of distinctions. Thank you for a lovely post.
ReplyDeleteYes, this is a lovely lead up to Whyte's poem! So often we confuse all of the above which can lead to miscommunication and suffering. Whyte does remind us what is truly important. As does Tenzin Palmo in her wonderful online retreat at Tricycle. It is often that "one good word" that we hunger for.. and that is often missing in this modern age.
ReplyDeleteDavid Whyte... one of my favorite. This poem of his you feature here, Carole, was the first one I read. I immediately when to bookstore and bought all the works of his on the shelf. :o) "..one good word is bread..." *sigh*... I love his quiet, yet powerful way of expression.
ReplyDeleteTracy- It is so true, what we all hunger for, personally, globally, the one good word. So important in our daily lives.
